Availability & Reservations

Is there a minimum number of nights we have to stay?
A two-night minimum is usually in effect (June-October) particularly for advance summer bookings, but please inquire anyway!

What is the cancellation policy?
Due to our remote location we require 7 days notice prior to check-in for a full refund. A 50% deposit will be held for any cancellations after the 7 day window.

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, MasterCard, Visa & Direct Debit (Interact) & e-mail money transfer. Sorry, no American Express.

Do the rates include breakfast and taxes?
The rates include breakfast. HST tax is addedd to the rate (13%). 

Do you allow children?
We have guest accommodation catering exclusively for adults (no children under 18 years). An exception will be made for families or groups who book all three rooms. Please note that our facility is not “child proof”.

When is check-in & check-out time?
Check-in time is between 3 p.m - 5 p.m. If you anticipate an arrival after 5 p.m. we would appreciate you letting us know an approximate time. To help you plan your day, and to help us prepare for other guests, please note that check-out time is 10:30 a.m.

What if we need to arrive early or leave late?
Early check-in can be arranged with advanced notice.  A late check-out can also be arranged for an additional fee.  

Do you accept Pets?
As much as we love animals, we must enforce a “no pets” rule. We do not accept pets of any kind. Please be aware that we have a small dog. 

Will our room have air conditioning?

What time is breakfast served?
Breakfast service is from 7:30 - 9:30.

Can we have breakfast early if we must leave before breakfast is scheduled?
If you’d like to get an early start to your day (before 7:30 A.M.), just let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to accommodate you.

What type of breakfast is served? Will we see a menu?
We offer an extensive made-to-order breakfast menu. Please note that the menu changes each season.

Can our special dietary needs (e.g., vegetarian, low-sodium, gluten-free) be accommodated?
Absolutely. In order to prepare and offer you choices, please advise your host prior to arrival if there are any major food allergies.

Do we have to interact with other guests at breakfast?
During the summer months, weather permitting, guests have their own table (for whichever time they choose) to dine outside on our patio areas. During the cooler seasons, guests dine in our dining room and depending on the time requested may be seated with other guests.

Guest Rooms

How large are the rooms?
The Sage and Lily suites are part of the 100 year portion of the house and are quaint. The Sage and Lily suites are perfect for guests who are looking for a great nights’ sleep and an exceptional breakfast to prepare for their daily adventures.  The Birch suite is much larger suite (and part of the addition of the house) 650 sq. ft. including the bathroom and is most suited for guests wanting privacy and an ultimate romantic getaway. The Birch Suite has a private balcony and sitting area.

What is the difference in the Sage and Lily rooms?
The Sage suite is south facing onto Harvey Avenue. The Lily suite faces west on to the gardens and has a larger bathroom.

Can we launch and dock a boat or pleasure craft?
Yes. The Dorset boat launch is only a few hundred meters away.

Will we have our own bathroom?
Yes. All three rooms have their own private en suite bathroom. The Birch suite has a Jacuzzi tub.

What size will our bed be?
The Sage and Lily rooms have queen sized beds. The Birch Suite has a king and also a pull-out queen sofa-bed.

Will we have a Jacuzzi or whirlpool tub, or a hot tub?
There is an outdoor hot tub that is open all year round and is available to all guests. The Birch Suite has a Jacuzzi tub.

During your stay

Can we cook lunch or dinner?
There is a BBQ area outside that guests are welcome to use. Sorry, the main kitchen is not available for guest cooking.

Can we swim?
Yes. We are located on the river joining Little Trading Bay to Trading Bay on Lake of Bays.

How far from Algonquin Park is the Moose B&B?
We are located 35 minutes from the Algonquin West Gate.

Will my host help me develop an itinerary for my visit?
We can certainly make suggestions for things to explore while you are in the area.  We have an extensive list of points of interest including, restaurants, museums, tours, rentals and local events.

Do you have canoes for guest use?
Yes, we have a canoe and paddle boat available for guests to use during their stay. 

Is there a common room where we can meet other guests?
The Sage and Lily rooms do not have a sitting area; however there is a large common/living area with a TV, board games, fire place, and popcorn machine for the enjoyment of all guests. The Birch Suite had its own living area and private balcony, but are not limited to it. All of the grounds including dock, hammock, picnic area, patios, gazebo, outdoor kitchen and hot tub are for all guests to enjoy.

Do you have internet access available to guests? 
Yes we do have a secure high speed free Wi-Fi internet access covering the entire building.
